finding more in each day

Whether it’s a new opportunity, perspective, idea, or challenge, there is more to everything that we do. There is more to it all.

Hello!

I’m Mamie (Amy with an M)! I grew up on a small farm and ranch in Moore, Montana. My older brother and I are the fifth generation on the Hertel farm and ranch. I grew up with a love for animals, being outside, and all things agriculture.

Being in an agriculture community, joining FFA was a natural step for me when I  entered junior high. I had no idea the impact the organization would have on my life, however. In 2016, I was attending an FFA conference in Washington, D.C. when I realized that there was a lot more to my life than what I was currently seeing. There was more to everything I was doing. There was more to it all. Since that conference, more to it all has been my life motto. For me, it extends to every aspect of my life and encourages me to see more, do more, and be more each and every day.

Currently, you can find me looking seeking more perspective and opportunities at Texas A&M University while I pursue a degree in agricultural communications and journalism with a minor in sociology. I enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations about how we can advocate for agriculture while meeting consumers where they are, and my studies allow me to gain skills to accomplish this.

A good friend told me once that what we do with our lives has nothing to do with going viral, and everything to do with adding value. It’s my hope that my work adds value to each person and encourages more in all aspects.
